The modernisation will affect the entire airport and its neighbourhood:

It is not a single construction or reconstruction project, but a responsible, long-term sustainable transformation of the national airport for a new generation of travel.
Three stages,
one direction
The airport’s transformation is being phased so that operations can continue throughout the work and the change can follow on from one another.
Better accessibility and arrival at the airport
- direct rail connection to the airport and new connection to public transport
- more user-friendly access-by-car system, parking and pedestrian links
- new infrastructure around the terminals
Increased comfort in terminals and faster handling
- expansion and improvement of Terminal 2
- construction of a central security screening point of Terminal 1
- more space, services and smoother movement
Runway system modernisation
- change of the runway system to a parallel layout
- closure of existing runway 12/30
- night curfew between 00:00 and 05:30
Why it makes sense
Travel is evolving. People want to fly more often, to more distant destinations and more comfortably, while also taking the environmental impact of travel into account. The modernisation will enable us to respond to these demands and at the same time improve the airport’s functioning and its relationship with neighbours. It is not about growth at any cost, but about a responsible and long-term sustainable transformation.
