MODERNISATION THAT HAS
A REAL IMPACT
The modernisation of Václav Havel Airport Prague is not an abstract project. Its benefits are measurable, long-term and affect different groups of people in different ways.
A SMOOTHER START
TO EVERY JOURNEY
The number of passengers at Václav Havel Airport Prague quickly returned to a growth trajectory after the pandemic. The modernisation is a response to a situation where the airport handles over 18 million passengers a year and this number will continue to grow.
Specifically, it means:
- shorter waiting times at peak periods
- more comfortable terminals
- more services and space to relax
- better access to the airport, including a direct rail link
QUIETER NIGHTS
FOR RESIDENTS
IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
One of the key benefits of the modernisation is the reduction of traffic impacts on the airport’s neighbourhood. The change to the runway system will allow the existing transverse runway to be closed and air traffic to be better distributed.
The result will be:
- less noise for hundreds of thousands of the airport´s neighbours (densely populated parts of Prague and Kladno)
- night curfew between 00:00 and 05:30
- more predictable operations during the day
STRONGER CONNECTIONS
BETWEEN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
AND THE WORLD
The airport is the main gateway to our country. A large proportion of foreign visitors come to the Czech Republic by air and tourism is one of the major employers, especially in Prague.
A modern airport:
- promotes quality tourism
- improves accessibility for business and investors
- strengthens the Czech Republic’s international ties
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS
The airport’s operation and development have impacts far beyond its borders. Thousands of jobs are linked to the airport, directly and indirectly, in transport, tourism, services and other sectors.
The modernisation will:
- create jobs during implementation
- support long-term employment
- increase the economic potential of the whole area
